That quote leads off Nick Wagonner’s excellent look back on Bruce’s career with the Rams. Wagonner is the Senior Writer for the Rams (at the ripe old age of 28), and for him Bruce defined not only a generation of football performance, but as a young professional lucky enough to break into the world of sportswriting with an NFL team, Bruce defined what it meant to be a true professional football player. A pretty high standard, as it turns out.
