I’m a few days behind, as the FanBall NFL Blog network (of which we are proud to be a member) completed the second rev of our community mock draft. Here’s the results. With the #33 pick in mind, let’s pay close attention to who wasn’t drafted as much as to who was.
2) Detroit Lions – Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska (Roar of the Lions)
3) Tampa Bay Bucs – Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma (What the Bucs)
4) Washington Redskins – Eric Berry, S, Tennessee (Paint it Redskins)
5) Kansas City Chiefs – Dan Williams, DT, Kansas City (Chiefs Chatter)
Surprised to see Russell Okung fall out of the top five, especially with Washington’s QB needs now taken care of. But Berry is a hell of a player, and it seems the Chiefs are looking to either erase or supplement the Tyson Jackson experiment. Unfortunately, this sets up a dream scenario for arch-rival Seattle.
7) Cleveland Browns – Joe Haden, CB, Florida (Gridiron Brownies)
8] Oakland Raiders – Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama (Raiders Radar)
9) Buffalo Bills – Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa (Bills Herd)
10) Jacksonville Jaguars – Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State (Teal Power)
Interestingly, even though the Raiders in this mock select McClain, Stu admits a strong leaning toward QB Jimmy Clausen if he’s available. The only question is whether Al Davis opens his pocketbook — and I think as long as he isn’t being asked to build a functional stadium, or pay Mike Shanahan, spending money on perceived playmakers is no problem.
12) Miami Dolphins – Brandon Graham, LB, Michigan (Blog With a Porpoise)
13) San Francisco 49ers – Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma (Niners Nuggets)

Interestingly, our corespondent for the Chicago Bears stated he would have taken the much-maligned Taylor Mays at the #11 pick, had it still belonged to Chicago. Instead, Mays falls to the arch-rival Packers at #23. Think the Bears might be interested in OJ Atogwe’s services under this scenario? He becomes an unrestricted free agent in July if the Rams don’t either (a) pay him nearly $8 large, or (b) sign him long-term.
17) San Francisco 49ers – CJ Spiller, RB, Clemson (Niners Nuggets)
18) Pittsburgh Steelers – Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho (Steelers Mill)
19) Atlanta Falcons – Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri (Dirty Bird Blog)
20) Houston Texans – Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State (Don’t Mess With Texans)
Spiller would be a fantastic pick for the 49ers, if only they hadn’t already clogged their return game with (chortle) Ted Ginn Jr. One can only hope that they consider this need filled, and avoid the electric Spiller. (To be fair to our Niners man, his much more logical move was made a week before the Ginn trade.)
22) New England Patriots – Sergio Kindle, LB, Texas (Pats Chowder)
23) Green Bay Packers – Taylor Mays, S, USC (Packing Cheese)
24) Philadelphia Eagles – Maurkice Pouncey, OC/OG, Florida (Eagles Have Landed)

Pouncey has to be considered the surprise of the draft to this point, but a need is a need is a need.
27) Dallas Cowboys – Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers (Respect The Star)
28) San Diego Chargers – Terrence Cody, DT, Alabama (Charging Bolts)
29) New York Jets – Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State (Turn On The Jets)
30) Minnesota Vikings – Kareem Jackson, CB, Alabama (Vikings Throne)
It has to be said: Cody is a terrible pick here, especially with every-down players like Odrick and Price, and so many other players who are legitimate athletes, still available. And now we get the final two picks, resetting the draft board for the Rams in round two.
32) New Orleans Saints – Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame (Who Dat Blog)
In every draft, a star must fall, and in this one it’s Clausen. (Ironically, in our first mock draft, it was Bradford who fell to the 49ers at #16.) What’s particularly notable about this pick, though, is that the Saints have no logical use for a quarterback, but they can’t ignore the value of selecting a top-ten player. If this scenario plays out, it’s very likely that a QB-hungry team like the Browns jumps right over the Rams to nab Clausen at the #32 spot.
Still out there for the Rams in this mock? QB (and trade-bait) Colt McCoy; WRs Arrelious Benn, Demaryius Thomas, Golden Tate and (personal favorite) Brandon LaFell; RBs Jonathan Dwyer and Jahvid Best; and DEs Carlos Dunlap and Jerry Hughes. The prospect makes me drool, and hopefully rival GMs will be drooling too … enough to trade up?
Sadly though, they miss entirely on the top tier of DTs after Suh and McCoy … that Fred Robbins pickup had better work out.
